Michael Foot started his journalism career at Tribune and the Evening Standard. He began writing for Tribune in 1937 and worked as a political correspondent for the Evening Standard from 1942 to 1945. Foot's work for these publications helped to establish him as a leading voice in the Labour Party and he went on to become the party's leader from 1980 to 1983.
