Andronikos III, also known as Andronikos the Younger, was the elder son of Michael IX Palaiologos, the Byzantine Emperor from 1295 to 1320. Born on March 25, 1297, Andronikos III co-ruled with his father from 1310 until becoming the sole ruler upon Michael IX's death in 1320. He would go on to rule the Byzantine Empire for the next 32 years, until his own death in 1354.
