Michael the Brave was born in 1558 in Făgăraș, Transylvania, Kingdom of Hungary. He was a Romanian prince, hospodar of Wallachia, Prince of Moldavia, and Voivode of Transylvania, who in 1600 briefly united the three Romanian principalities under his rule. He is known as "The Great" or "The Brave" in Romanian.
