Nicolae Pătrașcu drove Simion Movilă out of Moldavia during the absence of Michael the Brave. Michael the Brave was a Wallachian ruler who united the three Romanian principalities of Wallachia, Transylvania and Moldavia in 1600, and became the first ruler of a united Romanian state. However, he was not able to hold onto power for long, and was eventually defeated and killed by the Habsburgs.
