The Arab Ba'ath Movement, originally known as the Arab Ihya Movement, was founded in 1947 by Michel Aflaq, Salah al-Din al-Bitar, and Zaki al-Arsuzi. The movement aimed to promote Arab nationalism and unity, and advocated for the creation of a single Arab state. In 1952, the Arab Ihya Movement merged with the Arab Socialist Party to form the Arab Ba'ath Movement.
