Constantin Costache Negri served as Interior Minister under Carol I and Alexandru Ioan Cuza. He was a Romanian statesman and poet, and one of the most important figures in the country's early history. He was born in Iași in 1818, and studied law at the University of Paris. After returning to Romania, he became involved in politics, and served as Interior Minister under both Carol I and Alexandru Ioan Cuza.
