Mihajlo Pupin passed away on 12 March 1935 in New York City. He was a Serbian-American physicist, inventor, and electrical engineer. He is best known for his work on long-distance telephony, and for his development of the Pupin coil, which is used to amplify weak signals in telephone lines.
