Mikhail Frunze was born in Pishpek, which is now known as Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. He was a Soviet military leader and politician who played a major role in the Bolshevik Revolution and the Russian Civil War. He was also the first head of the Red Army and served as a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
