István Horthy (1904-1942) was a Hungarian sailor and soldier who served as Chief of Staff of the Hungarian Royal Navy from 1939 to 1942. He was the younger brother of Admiral Miklós Horthy Jr., Regent of Hungary from 1920 to 1944. István Horthy was born in Budapest on 21 November 1904. He attended Theresianum Military Academy in Vienna, Austria-Hungary, and graduated in 1925.
