Mohamed Naguib was president of Egypt for 2.5 years. Naguib was a member of the Free Officers, a group of Egyptian military officers who led the 1952 Revolution that overthrew King Farouk I. Naguib was appointed president of Egypt by the Free Officers on 18 June 1952, and he served in that role until 23 July 1954, when he was overthrown by Gamal Abdel Nasser.
