Prior to his presidency, Muhammad Naguib was a Lieutenant General in the Egyptian military. He was a leading figure in the Egyptian Revolution of 1952, which overthrew the monarchy and established the Republic of Egypt. Naguib served as the first president of Egypt from 1952 to 1954, before being overthrown by Gamal Abdel Nasser.
