Mohamed Naguib was born on 19 February 1901 in Al Qalyoubia Governorate, Egypt. He was a military officer, revolutionary and statesman who served as the first president of Egypt from 1953 to 1954. Naguib was a prominent figure in the Egyptian Revolution of 1952, which overthrew the monarchy and established a republic. He was appointed prime minister of Egypt in 1952 and then president in 1953.
