The House of Chakri is the royal house of Thailand, which was founded in 1782 by King Rama I. Mongkut was the fourth king of the House of Chakri, and reigned from 1851 to 1868. He is best known for his role in the modernization of Thailand, and for his work as a scholar and translator.
