Lucrezia Borgia is an opera by Gaetano Donizetti, first performed in 1833 in Milan. It is based on a play by Victor Hugo, and tells the story of the notorious Renaissance noblewoman Lucrezia Borgia. The role of Lucrezia was first sung by Giuditta Pasta, and has been performed by many famous sopranos since then, including Montserrat Caballé.
