Mordecai Menahem Kaplan was an American Jewish theologian and thinker, known for his work in the field of Jewish philosophy and religious education. Kaplan was born in Kovno, Lithuania, in 1881, and immigrated to the United States with his family in 1889. He studied at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, where he received a rabbinic ordination in 1902.
