Muhammad bin Nayef was named Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia on 29 April 2015. He was appointed by his half-brother, King Salman, following the death of King Abdullah. Muhammad bin Nayef was previously the interior minister and deputy crown prince. He is the son of King Salman's brother, Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz, who was also interior minister and crown prince.
