Musa al-Kazim was an eighth-century Shia Muslim leader who became the sixth Imam. He was also a scholar and a preacher. Musa al-Kazim established a network of representatives in order to spread his teachings and to provide guidance to his followers. These representatives were called "wakils". They were often members of Musa al-Kazim's family or close associates.
