It starred Chiranjeevi in a double role as Lord Rama and Lord Hanuman, with Ramyakrishnan as Sita, and Rama Rao Jr. as Lakshmana. The film's music was composed by Ilaiyaraaja. Ramayanam won the National Film Award for Best Children's Film in 1989.
