Nadia Murad is the first Iraqi to be awarded a Nobel Prize. She was awarded the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize for her work in bringing attention to the Yazidi genocide. Murad was abducted by ISIS in 2014 and forced into sexual slavery. She escaped and became an advocate for the rights of Yazidi women and girls.
