Narges Mohammadi, an Iranian lawyer and human rights activist, was sentenced to 16 years in prison in 2011. She was charged with "spreading propaganda against the state," "insulting the supreme leader," and "collaborating with the hostile governments of the US and Israel." Mohammadi has been in and out of prison since her initial arrest in 2009. She has been on hunger strike several times to protest her treatment in prison.
