Sheffield United is the boyhood club of Neil Warnock, who managed the team in 1999. Warnock, a lifelong supporter of the Blades, began his managerial career at Rotherham United in 1986 and went on to manage a number of clubs, including Huddersfield Town, Oldham Athletic, and Crystal Palace. He returned to Sheffield United in 1999 and led the team to promotion to the Premier League in 2006.
