Answer

Nelly Sachs (December 10, 1891 – May 12, 1970) was a German-Swedish poet and playwright. Born in Berlin to a Jewish family, Sachs experienced the Nazi regime's persecution of Jews and their eventual deportation to death camps. Her poetry expresses the horror and grief of this experience, but also her hope and faith in the power of love and compassion. Sachs was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1966.
