The Detroit Tigers drafted Mike Hampton in the 1991 MLB Draft. Hampton was a standout high school pitcher in Georgia, and the Tigers selected him with the 10th overall pick. He made his major league debut in 1994, and went on to have a successful career with the Tigers, Rockies, Astros, and Mets. He was a five-time All-Star, and won the NL Cy Young Award in 1999.
