Nikolay Przhevalsky was a Polish-Russian explorer, geographer and naturalist. He was born in the Russian Empire to a Polish father and Russian mother. He spent most of his life exploring Central Asia, and he made several important discoveries in the region. He is best known for his discovery of the Taklamakan Desert, and for his expedition to Tibet.
