Honshu is the answer. By 1580, the powerful daimyo, Oda Nobunaga, had successfully conquered and gained control of most of Honshu, the largest island of Japan. His conquests paved the way for the eventual unification of Japan under his rule and marked a significant turning point in the history of the country.
