Balliol College, Oxford was founded in 1263 by John de Balliol and his mother, Dervorguilla. The college has a long and distinguished history, and has educated many notable figures, including King Olav V of Norway. Olav attended Balliol from 1927 to 1930, and was a member of the college's rowing team. He was also a member of the Oxford Union, and gave a speech there in 1930.
