Oliver Evans (October 23, 1755 – April 10, 1819) was an American inventor who is best known for his work in the development of the high-pressure steam engine, which played an important role in the development of the Industrial Revolution. Evans was also a pioneer in the development of the grain elevator and the water turbine.
