Olympe de Gouges wrote her works in French. She was a French revolutionary writer, playwright, and political activist who was active during the French Revolution. She is best known for her Declaration of the Rights of Woman and the Female Citizen, which was written in 1791 and is considered to be one of the first feminist manifestos. She was executed by guillotine during the Reign of Terror in 1793.
