Omar Khadr was born in 1986. He gained international attention as a child soldier captured during the War in Afghanistan and later held in extrajudicial detention at Guantanamo Bay. He was eventually repatriated to Canada, where he faced trial and, in 2010, was convicted of five war crimes.
