Transylvania, the answer, was formerly a province of the Kingdom of Hungary. It is a historical region in central Romania, bordered by the Carpathian Mountains. Transylvania was inhabited by the Dacians, a Thracian people, conquered by the Romans in 106 AD, who established the Roman province of Dacia. In the Middle Ages, Transylvania became an autonomous principality within the Kingdom of Hungary.
