Juan Evo Morales Ayma was the first indigenous president of Bolivia. He was born in Oruro, a city in the Bolivian highlands. Morales was a member of the coca growers union, and he was elected president in 2006. He was re-elected in 2014, but was forced to resign in 2019 after a disputed election.
