Otto Frank was born on May 12th, 1889 in Frankfurt, Germany. He was a successful businessman who owned a company that produced pectin. In 1933, when the Nazis came to power, Otto was forced to sell his business and flee to Amsterdam with his wife Edith and their two daughters, Margot and Anne. In 1942, the Franks were forced to go into hiding in an annex behind Otto's office.
