Otto Frank lived in the Netherlands during WWII. He was born in Frankfurt, Germany, but his family moved to the Netherlands in 1933 to escape the Nazis. They lived in Amsterdam until 1942, when they were forced into hiding in the Secret Annexe of Otto's office building. Otto and his family remained in hiding for two years, until they were discovered and deported to Auschwitz.
