Philip of Swabia (1177-1208) was a Hohenstaufen prince, son of Frederick I Barbarossa and Beatrice of Burgundy. He was elected King of the Romans in 1198, but his reign was challenged by Otto IV, the son of Henry IV. Philip was assassinated in 1208 and Otto IV was crowned emperor.
