Answer
Otto Lilienthal was a German engineer and aviation pioneer. He is often compared to the Wright brothers, but he was seen as a unique pioneer in his own right. Lilienthal was the first person to make controlled, sustained flights in a glider. He made more than 2,000 flights and studied the principles of flight. His work paved the way for the development of heavier-than-air flight.
