In 1913, Ottorino Respighi took the position of composition professor at the Liceo Musicale di Santa Cecilia, a music school in Rome. Respighi had been studying composition at the school since 1907, and he had been teaching at the school since 1911. He remained at the school until 1924, when he became the director of the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia.
