Racing Club was the club that Contreras joined after his spell in France. He had a successful career at the club, winning several trophies, including the Primera División title in 1966. He was also a key player in the club's run to the Copa Libertadores final in 1967. After his time at Racing Club, Contreras played for several other clubs in Argentina and Mexico, before retiring in 1972.
