Before serving as Governor, Pat McCrory served as the 53rd Mayor of Charlotte. He was elected in 2005 and served two terms, from 2005 to 2013. During his time as Mayor, he was credited with helping to revitalize the city's downtown area and improving its public transportation system. He also worked to attract new businesses and residents to Charlotte.
