Patrick Henry Pearse was an Irish nationalist revolutionary and poet who was executed for his role in the Easter Rising in 1916. He was born in Dublin in 1879 and studied at the Royal University of Ireland, where he earned a law degree. He was a member of the Gaelic League and the Irish Republican Brotherhood, and he was a founding member of the Irish Volunteers.
