Paul Berg never worked at the University of Michigan. He attended the University of Chicago for his undergraduate and graduate degrees, and later worked at Stanford University and the University of California, San Francisco. He is best known for his work on DNA recombination and the development of recombinant DNA technology, for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1980.
