French composer Paul Dukas was born in Paris in 1865. He studied at the Paris Conservatoire, where he won the prestigious Prix de Rome in 1888. Dukas is best known for his orchestral work "The Sorcerer's Apprentice," which was inspired by a poem by Goethe. He also composed operas, chamber music, and piano pieces. Dukas died in Paris in 1935.
