Der Schwanendreher is a viola concerto composed by Hans Werner Henze in 1952–53, and first performed in 1954. It is one of the most popular and widely recorded works of the twentieth century. Henze composed it in a neo-Bachian spirit, using a viola as the solo instrument. The work is in three movements: "Allegro", "Adagio" and "Vivace".
