Paul Lauterbur was born in 1929 in Sidney, Ohio. He was an American chemist and physicist who is best known for his development of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Lauterbur shared the 2003 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with Peter Mansfield for their work on MRI.
