Did Paul Leroy prefer to paint indoors or outdoors?

  • Indoors

  • Outdoors

  • Both equally

  • Depended on the season

Answer

Paul Leroy painted indoors because he had to have full control over the light in his paintings. He wanted to be able to capture the exact light that he saw in the real world, and he couldn't do that if he was painting outdoors. By painting indoors, he could control the amount of light that was coming into his studio, and he could also use artificial light if necessary.
