In the 1980s, Paul Manafort, the former campaign chairman for US President Donald Trump, lobbied for the Philippine dictator Ferdinand Marcos and his wife Imelda Marcos. Manafort worked on behalf of the Marcoses from 1984 to 1989, when the Marcoses were in exile in Hawaii after being overthrown in a popular uprising in 1986.
