Before his famous midnight ride, Paul Revere was a member of the Sons of Liberty, a group of colonial patriots who opposed British rule. The Sons of Liberty were involved in a number of protests and acts of sabotage against the British, including the Boston Tea Party. Revere was also a silversmith and a member of the Massachusetts Committee of Safety, which was responsible for organizing the militia.
