Pepin ruled Neustria, a western part of Francia, located in present-day northern France. It consisted of the regions between the Loire and the Seine rivers and stretched to the English Channel. Neustria was one of the three sub-kingdoms of Francia, along with Austrasia and Burgundy, during the Merovingian dynasty.
