Pete Conrad was the first astronaut from the Ivy League. He graduated from Princeton University in 1953 with a degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering. He was selected as an astronaut in 1962 and flew on the Gemini 5 and 12 missions, as well as the Apollo 12 mission.
