Peter Cosgrove served as Australia's Chief of Army from 2000 to 2002. He was appointed to the position by Prime Minister John Howard and served until he was appointed Governor-General of Australia in 2008. During his time as Chief of Army, Cosgrove oversaw a number of significant changes to the Australian Army, including the introduction of the Land Warfare Doctrine and the establishment of the Australian Army Training Centre.
