Answer

Philip and Elizabeth Berrigan were reinstated by the Catholic Church after being excommunicated for their civil disobedience against the Vietnam War. They were both involved in the Catonsville Nine protest, in which they burned draft records in protest of the Vietnam War. The Berrigans were arrested and spent several years in prison. They were excommunicated by the Catholic Church in 1973, but were reinstated in 1983.
